"While we try to teach our children all about life, Our children teach us what life is all about." ~Angela Schwindt

Rob & I often talk about how much Sofie has taught us.  In the 6 1/2 months that she been here, I feel like I've begun this path of becoming someone I want her to look up to and be proud of.  It's crazy how your attitude shifts. she makes me want to be a better person.  Sometimes that includes leaving things in the past once and for all, becoming more picky of who I surround myself with, and to not be so hard on myself. Of course, I know I'm not perfect and have said/done things I'm not proud of.  It is what it is. C'est la vie! Now I consciously make a better effort of being the best version of myself that I can be.  That's all I can do.

Me oh my, where to begin.  This 6 month growth spurt has really shown us how quick our baby is growing up.  Within a week of my last post of Sofie mastering her army crawl, she got on her knees and crawled for realsies! One morning, I finished drinking my protein shake and she heard the jingle of my cup.  Her ears perked up and she just went for it! I sent a video to Rob and called it "something worth crawling for" haha.  She has been all over the place ever since, which has been interesting to try and contain.  It's all tile in the great room except for a rug and her play area, so it's a bit limited. {{play room, hurry up!}}

A week later (early last week), she began to go from a sitting position to crawling and by the end of the week, she could push herself up from a crawling position to sitting up. It's pure craziness!  Haha.  I just can't believe what a quick learner she is.  She has so much fun playing on her back, rolling over, crawling everywhere, sitting up, climbing on things, and doing it all over again.  Such a silly little monkey!  Now she is trying to pull herself up to stand, ay yi yi.  She has face planted and fallen over a few times, but it doesn't seem to phase her.  She is pretty determined to do what she sets her mind to.

We have been quite busy the last few weeks. Had an awesome time celebrating my brother's 30th birfday with a Hawaiian themed carne asada at my parents.
Mexican food with a side of Hawaiian salad, yum!

Happy birfday Tio Army!

And yes, this was Sofie's first time hitting a piñata. She is officially a Mexican, hehe.

Last weekend we went to Rocky Point for the Las Palomas Triathlon with the Trocki's, Stefanie, her bff Elissa, and my dad.  We had such a fun and relaxing time.  Since no one else in the Hegarty family could make it down, we decided to not make Rob swim in the ocean and we all ran a 5k instead.  It was my first time finishing a 5k since Sofie was born, a victory for me! Haha.  My dad was nice enough to play nanny/bartender/grill master/ceviche maker and anything else we asked of him.

Our little fashionista!

Rob's wristbands, boom!

Impromptu double date with Jason & Bre

Filling up gas and stretching our legs; she is so silly!
After a long trip home, we gave Sofie a bath and she decided she needed to be a big girl and sit up. This last week has been a growing week for sure!

To be honest, I wasn't sure how she would do on the road.  I think maybe I automatically assume she will hate being in the car seat that long (because she used to hate it and it was challenging to go anywhere that was farther than 20-30 min)  I hafta remember that she is growing up and out of certain phases. She doesn't like to be in her car seat when it's too quiet and too still (aka when I try to take her to the chiropractor....3x, epic fail).  Super baby does have her kryptonite after all ;) Haha!

So other than that, not much is new.  I'm enjoying being at home and do my best to show my appreciation to Rob by telling him (duh) and keeping up with the household, budget, errands, etc.  It's still a challenge for me to remember to take time for myself and make sure I get out of the house.  Thank goodness Mountainside is 5 minutes away, I've been able to go before the all the other SAHM's (Stay At Home Mamas) flood the gates.  Gotta use having a morning baby to my advantage.  For example, today I went to the gym, hit up Sprouts, made it home to feed Sofie and it was barely 9am! This must be why my bed time is 10pm, haha.

I'm still making Sofie's food for the most part, but have bought some of the pre-made baby food that is easy to take on the go and/or mix with some of the thicker food I've made.  My goal is to feed her 3x per day.  Sometimes it happens, other times...not so much.  Nursing on demand and not diminishing my supply is my #1 priority, so I'm not too worried about it.  I'm also *surprisingly* not pushing any type of schedule.  I let her play and sleep when she wants, and just make sure she eats every 3 hours.  She sleeps through the night, so that's all I can ask for.

Mmk, well my bed time is approaching and I will be updating in less than 2 weeks for her 7 month update (jigga what?!) Where does the time go?  I'll leave y'all (yes, monica will be proud of my use of y'all) with some more pics!

Monique was sweet enough to edit some more pics, even though she gave birth to her sweet Marley Rose 5 days after she took these pics!

Gosh, I just love our baby girl.

Until next time,

Baby Mama Lex
