1 year birfday pics & more!

Here are some of my absolute faves of Sofie in her birthday tutu made by Chunky Monkey Creations during our photoshoot with Monique!

Of course there is always a funny memory or two that we make.  I kid you not, but Sofie was not having any of this photo shoot business. She was actually yelling and sometimes crying during most of these pics, but she looks so happy.  We couldn't help but laugh, hehe. Gotta love separation anxiety mixed with a sleepy baby.  Miss Early Bird decided to wake up around 5 am, so once 9am rolled around...'nuff said!  Nevertheless, we made the best of it and the pictures came out adorable *of course*

Here are some other good ones from the monthly photo shoot I do at home.
Back molars comin in, yowza!

Yay!

My OCD, Type-A self will shamelessly admit that I took these pics the day before her actual birthday, eek...I just knew I would be too busy partyin' with my #1 girl to be bothered, haha.  Here she is on the day of her birthday
We had a great day.  After her 1 year check up (with 3 shots, yuck!), Chey came by to visit and give her a birthday gift and a hair cut.  It turned out super cute!  Thanks again Chey!
Doctor's office
Then Jace came over for a few hours.  It's so cute how he is super shy at first, but finally comes around.  I bribed him with toys. He played really well with his "Sosie"
Once Rob got off work, I went and picked up some take out (J&K Chinese is the best).  I also picked up a few cupcakes for the 3 of us to celebrate. It was pumpkin with cream cheese frosting,  I think she liked it!
Now that all the crazy birthday shtuff is done, I really wanted to take some time to document some stats on Little Miss Independent.

Age: One
Stats: 29.53 inches(66%), 20 lbs 5 oz(38%), 46 cm head circ. (77%). Blue eyes & Lighter brown hair with a hint of red
Teeth: 4 on top, and 3 *almost* 4 on bottom.  Quite possibly 2 molars (eek!)
Sleep: 8:30pm-6:30am on average and down to 1 nap a day (1-3 hours)
Favorite Foods: Blueberries, Green grapes, Bananas, Edamame, Cinnamon animal cookies, Spaghetti, Quinoa, & Pizza!
Favorite Word: Dada
Favorite Toys: Non-toys, of course! Haha, obsessed with dominoes, rubber duckies, and loves any ball. Ever since she could pull herself up, she has loved the Vtech 2-in-1 Discovery Table
Favorite Activities: Knocking down domino tower, bath time, splash pads, walking everywhere, reading books, Lapsit @ the library, playing at the gym child care, and ticklefest with daddy.
Library time, yay!
Other Favorites: Binky and soft blanky(preferably over her face when she self soothes to sleep) clapping when we sing "Itsy Bitsy Spider". Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood, Pixar movies (UP, most recently) and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse!
Least Favorite Activities: Getting her diaper changed (lying on her back in general), sitting still for too long, getting dressed (c'mon mom, hurry!) still not sure about the texture of grass...haha
Nicknames: Sofie, Sof, Bubba, Little Miss, Babes, Little Love, Monkey, Miss Independent, Baby Love, Baby Girl, Super Baby

I can't wait to see what's in store for us in this next year.  Miss Independent is on the go and there are no signs of slowing down, we are just along for the ride!

October is definitely one of the busiest months for us.  The weekend before last, we celebrated Rob's 29th birfday. Yikes!  Hehe.  He took Friday off & we went to the Zoo.  It was our first time as a family, hehe.  Little Miss wasn't all that interested in the animals, so we decided to go to the splash pad.  She sure loves doing that! We got a lot of "Omg, she is so tiny and is already walking?!"  or "How old is she???" Hehe. Super Baby, duh ;)

Then we came home and got ready for date night @ Ruth's Chris, yum!
Saturday I *kinda* surprised Rob with a day date to the shooting range.  Really glad Nick came with us to help show us how to use Rob's new gun.  It was my first time and it was a little scary, but I got over the jitters after awhile.  In fact, Rob says I have a better shot ;)
A huge thanks to all the grandparents that help with babysitting, especially lately.  We are so appreciative and grateful!  What a blessing it is to be near family.
We wrapped up the weekend with what else: football!  Had a little potluck with some friends & family.  I also asked the Cards to win and they did.  You're welcome AZ fans! Haha
My birthday babies!
Here are some other random pics, I will be posting again soon once I gather birthday party pictures.

ONE YEAR OLD!!

What a special day: our little love is officially 1 year old, gahh!  We woke up to a perfect, chilly morning and both sang happy birthday to her.  She was smiling and clapping (of course).  I just can't explain how amazing this last year has been.  I've lost a lot of sleep, shed many tears (both of joy & frustration), and have learned so much about myself as a mother, wife, and person overall.  This bittersweet feeling tends to stick around.  I look forward to watching her continue to grow into her own little person and learn new things.  But, I also miss her being teeny tiny! Can time please slow down??
I wasn't actually able to find a collage for this, so I made an album in my phone and did a screen shot.  Can ya tell I'm impressed with myself? Haha, boom!  Here is the board I made for Sofie's 1 year photo shoot/party/etc. I'll post a better picture next time.  Oh, and according to her doc, she actually weighs 20.5 lbs (38% percentile) just under 30 inches(66%) Rob & I were in a hurry when I made this board, haha!
Rob & I talked about the hours leading up to her birth and it was like a time machine.  I can remember feeling so nervous, yet excited.  The operating room was freezing, and no matter how hard I tried, I was shaking.  I remember Rob holding my hand and we talked about one of our favorite trips to distract us from the craziness going down on the other side of that blue curtain.  It was such a whirlwind, but I will always remember feeling like my heart could just burst open from all the love that has filled it.  Still feel like that sometimes.  Tonight I rocked my baby girl to sleep and just snuggled her for a long while.  I stroked her hair away from her beautiful little face, gave her a soft kiss on the cheek and I closed my eyes to freeze that moment. She is my entire world, and I will always do what it takes to make sure she is safe and happy.

Anyway, this mama is tired from a long day (insert week, month, year! hehe)

I will try and update soon about all the birfday festivities and share more pics. Until then, here is a pic of our birthday Princess!

Fall Family Peeekturees!

Another *quick* update, what a treat right?

We had a blast with Monique on another great photo sesh for Sofie's 1st birfday pics!  We also took some family pics and I just had to do flannels to show how excited I am for the best time of year.  Fall, amazing weather, birfdays, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, & everything in between. I'm holding off on sharing Sof's birthday pics because I am putting her in the same outfit for her party ;)

The Boob Factory is officially closed!

'Nuff said! Rob had a say in what the title of this blog would be.  A close 2nd was "The End of an Era"  But, I knew I was just being dramatic.

After 11 1/2 months, Sofie has decided to snub the boob.  I'll be honest, I was offended and a little hurt! Haha, but really. A part of me is sad and will miss that closeness I had with her, but I am very happy that I was able to breastfeed as long as I did.  My original goal was to make it to a year, and when she started to get teeth(about 5-6 months old) I was really starting to reconsider.  Owie!! This says it all:

Luckily, we got through that and Little Miss realized it was not nice to use me as a teether.  Anyway, over the last 2 months I've started to wean and take out one feeding at a time and supplement with formula(She also eats solids 3x a day)  A little selfish part of me is relieved to be done and excited to *finally* up my interval training and get toned. Operation MILF will be kicked up a notch or two!

I'm so so glad I took the time to wean and set the right expectations for myself, I haven't had any issues with engorgement or leaking.  (sorry if it's TMI, but I'm talkin to my fellow nursing mamas out there!) and I feel like I left the decision up to Sofie to keep going or continue to wean.  It also created a nice morning routine with daddy. He is already up early for work, so during the week Rob makes a bottle and brings it to little Miss Early Bird.  I get to sleep in a little, enjoy my morning coffee and get ready for the gym. So thankful for such a hands-on hubby/daddy.

So besides that, we have been busy trying to decorate and organize the house.  Feels like every weekend there is a project for that or errands to run.  I love it though!  Party-planning is coming along great, been making some cupcake/cookie stands and other decor whenever I have some free time.  Sofie is currently getting 3 teeth, one of which is her first molar. le sigh.  I bought a bottle of  Gum-omile Oil from "Take Your Vitamins" in Gilbert and it has been amazing for numbing those sore gums.  It's a natural remedy for teething that includes amazing oils like Chamomile(acts as an anti-inflammatory) and clove oil(numbing).  Tastes yucky, but works instantaneously!  A must for all mommies.  Orajel is weak sauce! Haha

Mmk, time to get back to crafting for the big party.  I will leave you all with some pictures(of course!)
Little monkey is climbing on top whatever she can find!

Just watchin' a movie

Happy baby!
